Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI announced a new venture called Macrohard that aims to create software using only AI agents, eliminating human workers from the development process.
The project will use xAI’s Grok chatbot to generate hundreds of specialized AI agents for coding, testing, content creation and user interaction, xAI said. Unlike traditional software companies, Macrohard plans to replace the entire development pipeline with artificial intelligence.
XAI filed a trademark application for Macrohard on Aug. 1 with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for AI-driven products including speech and text generation tools and AI-generated video games.
The venture contrasts with Microsoft’s approach of integrating AI into existing frameworks through its multibillion-dollar OpenAI partnership. Musk said on social media platform X that Macrohard represents “redefining what a company can be.”
The announcement comes as xAI accelerates AI development efforts, with Grok already available on x.com and through mobile and web applications.
