Gilas Pilipinas crushed by South Korea in Asian Games warm-up
MANILA – Gilas Pilipinas suffered a heavy 81-55 defeat to South Korea on Friday in the first of two friendly matches ahead of the 2026 Asian Games.
Playing at Suwon KT Sonicboom Arena, the Philippines trailed from the opening tip and faced a 45-33 halftime deficit. South Korea extended its advantage in the second half, building a game-high 26-point lead.
Turnovers proved costly for Gilas, with the hosts repeatedly capitalising on miscues for transition points.
The teams will meet again on Sunday, Sept. 6, at 1:00 p.m. local time in the final tune-up before the Philippines travels to Japan for the Asian Games.
