The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) announced that the Digital National ID available in the eGovPH app is now recognized as an official government-issued ID in all BSP-supervised financial institutions.
In a memorandum issued in 2024, the BSP directed banks and other financial institutions to accept the digital ID for transactions such as account opening, loan applications, withdrawals and other financial services.
The BSP stressed that there is no valid reason for institutions to refuse the Digital National ID, which is considered secure and legally valid.
Customers who encounter banks or financial institutions that do not honor the digital ID are advised to file complaints with the BSP Consumer Affairs office at [email protected] or with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) at [email protected].
The Digital National ID is available through the eGovPH app, which can be downloaded from the Play Store, App Store and Huawei App Gallery.
